Nov 08: What a rollicking time to be in Washington! It has been an amazing ride. Urban Institute research has received all kinds of press and our folks have been all over the media. The energy is fantastic!
Not much time for updates here, so here are some highlights!
The year of motorcades and black limousines — what with the World Bank and G20 meetings more limos and men in black suits than I can count, and Cheney hogging the roads every evening, and I don't want to know what the "hazardous waste" motorcades are...
I have a NEW BABY - meet Jack! He's an adorable barn cat and love boy. Sophie says, "annoying little brother, I will tolerate you."
PNEUMONIA - knocked me out for almost two months, not something I ever want to experience again. Kinda threw the whole summer for a loop.
SPA weekend on the lovely shores of the Chesapeake and very cool stargazing!
Trips to NEW YORK for fun with Frank and hopefully another one soon to check out all the new Broadway shows
SOLD my precious house in Austin, I will miss it desperately but the timing was right and I am sooo happy not to be a long-distance landlord any more.
PREVIOUS UPDATES!
Sept
07: The Washington adventure continues! Time for a long-neglected
update!
2007 starts with a
great Greatest American Heroes reunion gig for New Year's Eve
in Austin! (here I am with Kirky)
Off to Jacksonville, FL in January to surprise my grandmother
for her 85th birthday. ALL of the grandkids made it, for the first
time ever. Coooooold weather (the coldest I ever remember being, but then,
I lived in Chicago so my memory is probably selective) and snow!
YAY!
March spent on stage in Hexagon: Strike While the Irony's Hot.
Great, great talented folks who love to party! pics
Then Lara gets married to an amazing
guy, Ric -- and I've never seen her so happy. That's March in Houston.
Tina and Joe got hitched in May! Entire family descends on DC.
Ever the versatile cousin, I serve as both florist
and photographer. wheeee
here are all the girl cousins ->
Short bits: got to rendezvous with my longtime friend Ed Jaselskis
and his fam; finally found a new poker group;
New Experiences... my ongoing quest! since my
last update:
My
first trip to Europe (ok, this one tops the list in all ways!)
UK - London, Bristol, Wells and Glastonbury with Frank! (November)
pics
A sunrise over the Atlantic
Ocean (September, on the Outer Banks of North
Carolina) pics
Changing of the Guard at Arlington Cemetery (with Katrina during
her visit) and the Challenger memorial there. One the few "DC"
things I hadn't done yet.
The Library of Congress. It's possibly the most ornate
building I've ever seen, with amazing arches, scrollwork, mosaics,
and quotations all
over the ceilings. I think it is one of DC's best
kept secrets.
Charming, uber-naval Annapolis, MD. Spending an afternoon
camped in an Adirondack chair on the Bay, watching sailboats go
by.
Finding
three
new lighthouses - Bodie Island, Currituck, and Cape Hatteras. (see
a few of my Outer
Banks pics)
A warm summer evening performing on an outdoor stage in Arlington
(Hexagon at Lubber Run park) and tea with Richard Dean Anderson!
